It’s time to call on the TJs Wine Notes faithful followers.
Does anyone still have a bottle of Cocobon 2009?
It’d be awesome if you opened and tasted that wine next to the 2010 vintage. I’d really like to read your notes and observations. The Cult of Cocobon has brought more than a handful of the 65,000+ visitors to my site. Clearly, people are curious about this wine and drinking it (a lot). Hopefully reading this blog has made you feel more comfortable about talking about wine, so here’s your opportunity, post your tasting notes below. The Cult of Cocobon wants to hear from you!

Unfortunately, or fortunately, I drank all my 2009 Cocobon. The 2010 vintage is wonderful also, though lighter, not as thick, not as rich, not as cocoa-ey. But I still find cocoa flavors, lots of yummy fruit, a little spice, not too green, not bitter, not watery/bland. I consider it still to be a reliable offering for a party, or for everyday. Since I cannot afford expensive special occasion wines, I consider Cocobon to be my ‘go to’ wine for any and all occasions. I think this qualifies me as a member of ‘the cult of Cocoban’.

I will gleefully pick up several of the 2010 vintage at my local Trader Joes now that it’s in stock. Perhaps I could let it age a bit and see what it’s like then.

“Cult of Cocobon” Love that! Nice tasting notes, btw! I am currently drinking a bottle of Cocobon 2010 I picked up today at Trader Joes. This lead me to search for the wine because I am looking for what grapes lie within. At first I was in love, but as the second glass comes around it is getting a Little too sweet. Your description of finishing like cherry cola was right on. I still give the wine a thumbs up, and it definitely goes well with a creamy blue cheese!
Best Regards

I love Cocobon and Found 2009 better tasting, rounder and smoother then 2010 Cocobon. Its was one of my Favs I might have to wait for 2010 to age and see how it turns out.
Im gonna give your recommendations a try. Thanks

I am so thrilled with 2010 that I am sad to have missed 2009 which I was told even at TJs (and have read here) was better. Still, I enjoy the 2010 quite a bit as an everyday red wine. It is as full as a Cab and not too fruity for me as long as I don’t go more than one day on an open bottle. I bought a case and will be spreading it out throughout the year as I am curious about how it will change.

Good for a large gathering that doesn’t know really good red wine, perfect for all occasions.
